10 things I hate about you is a, 1999 romantic comedy. Directed by Gil Junger, produced by Andew Lazer and written by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kristen Smith. 10 things I hate about you is a modernization of William Shakespeare's late 16th century comedy 'The Taming Of The Show' it's retold in a late 1900's American high school setting.

This film was released March 31st, 1999. It rated number two at domestic box office during it's opening weekend. The number one was The Matrix. 10 things I hate about you was a moderate financial and critical success. It starred some breakthrough roles such as Julia Stiles as Katarina Stratford. Heath Ledger as Patrick Verona. Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Who were then nominated for various teen-oriented awards. This film was then turned into a television series 10 years later.

 Heath Ledger then later went on to play roles in films such as 'Brokeback Mountain' as Ennis Del Mar, and also 'The Dark Knight' as the joker. Then on the 22nd of January 2008 Heath Ledger was pronounced dead due to intoxication. Then however, in December 2008 it was announced that he had been nominated for a Golden Globe Award for best supporting actor for his role as the joker. He also won lots of awards for his role as the joker.
Joseph Gordon-Lewitt who played Cameron in 10 things I hate about you, later starred in films like 'Treasure Planet' '500 Days Of Summer' and 'The Dark Knight Rises.' He was nominated for a golden globe award for best actor for his role in 500 days of summer and nominated for an independent spirit award for best male lead in his role in 500 days of summer.

Many of the scenes were filmed on location of the Stadium High School and at a house in the proctor district of Tacoma, Washington. The prom sequence was filmed over three days in Seattle. The film had a budget of $30 million and made $53.5 million in box office.


In it's opening weekend the grossed $8.3 million in 2,271 theaters in the United States.

  1. Rebecca you involve some good contextual information which is really important. You talk about the success and demise of some of the actors. However you do not do the Director the same courtesy. What happened to the Directors career?

    Going forward you ned to always mention the Genre and the themes as we really do not know what happens in this film in that respect.
